Ground Beef Nems

Ingredients:

  • 400g kefta (ground beef) 
  • 1 red onion 
  • 3 different colours of bell peppers 
  • 200g mushrooms 
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fresh ginger 
  • 2 tablespoon of soya sauce 
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
  • 1/4 cup parsley 
  • 200g vermicelli
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Phyllo pastry

Method:

  1. In a large sauté pan, sauté all the vegetables and ground beef. Then add spices and other seasonings. 
  2. Cut your phyllo pastry to the desired size, place filling and vermicelli in center and roll into a cigar shape.  
  3. Place the prepared rolls on parchment paper and bake them in a preheated oven at 350F for about 20 minutes, turning them over for an additional 10 minutes or until golden. Alternatively, the rolls could be deep-fried or shallow-fried in a pan.
