Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign up for a class?

To register for a class, visit our class calendar and click on the class that interests you. Fill out the required information, including the number of tickets you'd like, any allergies or dietary restrictions, and accessibility requirements for your optimal experience. You will also find a detailed class description, which will inform you whether it's a hands-on or demonstration-style class.

What should I wear?

For your comfort and safety, please wear closed-toe shoes and attire that you feel comfortable in. Avoid loose long sleeves. We provide aprons to ensure a mess-free experience. Since our kitchen involves sharp tools and hot materials, wearing aprons and closed-toe shoes is essential for your safety.

Where are you located?

You can find us upstairs at Lakehouse Home Store, located at the corner of Ellis St. and Bernard Ave. in downtown Kelowna. Our address is Unit 200 – 510 Bernard Ave, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 6P1.

Where should I park?

We recommend street parking or utilizing one of the city's parkades: Chapman, Library, or Memorial. Further details about parking in downtown Kelowna can be found on the city website.

When should I arrive?

Please arrive 5-10 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our team will be ready to greet you, show you around the facility, and provide you with an apron. Allow enough time to find parking downtown and get settled at your station before the class begins. Please note that our entrance is closed to the public after 6:00 PM. If you're attending a class or event starting after that time, a door attendant will be present until the class begins. Ensure you arrive before the scheduled start time, as the door will be unattended for late arrivals.

How long do the cooking classes last?

The duration of our classes varies, ranging from 1 hour to 6 hours, depending on the specific class. The exact timing will be specified in your registration. For hands-on classes, you can expect to spend approximately 30-45 minutes at our demonstration bar, where the chef instructor will showcase the recipes. Afterward, you'll proceed to your hands-on station to prepare your meal, which you will then enjoy in our dining room. Baking classes may not always include a meal, so please review the class description for details. In demonstration classes, you'll have the opportunity to savour your meal throughout the 2-3 hours spent with us.

Will I be cooking individually or in a group?

Our hands-on classes feature culinary workstations designed for two guests. If you register together, you will be assigned a station together. If you register separately, please let us know who you would like to be paired up with. We reserve the right to pair up solo guests based on class size and structure. Groups of three or more will be divided into multiple workstations. If you have a preference, please inform us, and we will do our best to accommodate whenever possible.

What if I have allergies or food sensitivities?

Please note that we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment, as our kitchen utilizes ingredients that include gluten, lactose, and common allergens like peanuts, eggs, mustard, fish, soy, sesame, and others. If you have any allergies, food sensitivities, or concerns regarding the class ingredients, please email us ([email protected]) before or at the time of registration. We will explore available options and assist you accordingly.

Should I eat before class?

For hands-on classes, you will enjoy the meal that you have cooked at the end of the class. We suggest avoiding coming to class starving as it will be a couple hours before you’re seated for dinner. Occasionally classes do not finish with a full meal (e.g. baking classes). You’ll know based on the class description whether a meal is included.

Will beverages be available during class?

Yes! We have a variety of beverages available for your enjoyment including wine, beer, cocktails, espresso beverages, tea, kombucha, fruit sodas, and pop. Complementary still and sparkling water on tap is also available for those looking to stay well hydrated! Please check the details of the class description to find out if your class includes a welcome beverage and/or has an additional wine pairing option for purchase.

Are class participants offered any special bonuses?

On the day of the class, you’ll be provided with a Culinary Cashback voucher to use on your next retail purchase at Lakehouse Home Store within 30 days. Present your voucher to our sales associates to receive 15% off regular priced items and 10% off small appliances. Not valid on promotional, clearance, or “Sale Boat” items.

What is the cancellation policy if I can’t make a class?
